A dedication of a child is an act of faith by parents and the local body of Christ, our church, as we commit ourselves to bringing up a child in faith in Christ Jesus. To be clear, it is not “child baptism” because we believe that a person is baptized only as a believer as the Bible commands. And such a dedication doesn’t “save” the child, since salvation comes only from an individual consciously (i.e., knowingly) and conscientiously receiving Jesus as Lord and as Saviour, regardless of a person’s age.
