INTRIGUING CONVERSION ON THE GAZA HIGHWAY – Acts 8: 26 to 40

Every time I read this story I am encouraged as to how God works in the heart of a sinner who is seeking truth. In order for that sinner to come to the Lord Jesus the Gospel MUST be proclaimed to that sinner. This is where you and I come in, as the bearers of the glad tidings that bring great joy. From this story let’s learn from Philip as to how we can become effective soul-winners.

  1. EAR FOR GOD
  2. Philip was an active listener! He heard God speak clearly to him, asking him to leave a revival taking place in Samaria and travel to a desert road. Daily we must make time to listen to God. We will be surprised how God will speak to us, guiding us to a soul who needs to hear the Gospel.

  3. EAGER OBEDIENCE
  4. Philip didn’t question God. He promptly obeyed God. What blessings he would
have missed if he stayed on in Samaria. He became the instrument to lead a high
ranking Ethiopian official to Christ. You never know what your obedience will
result in for the spread of the Gospel.

  5. ENTHUSIASM
  6. Philip RAN to the chariot of the official. He didn’t drag his feet. He was full of zeal for the Lord. We must all be red-hot for our God all the time. Enthusiasm is infectious.

  7. EXPLAIN
    • Be a diligent Student of Scripture
    • You must know your Bible! Study the Gospel Scriptures carefully.
Memorize them. Be ready at all times to respond.

    • Share truth Simply and creatively
    • Don’t use Christian jargon. Explain the meaning of words. Illustrate where-ever
      you can.

    • Sensitive to the needs of the hearer
    • Figure out where the person is spiritually! Help the person understand where
they are currently and where they need to be by God’s grace.

  8. ENCOURAGE
  9. Philip encouraged the Ethiopian official to BELIEVE and be BAPTIZED!!! Encourage the unbeliever to take baby steps of faith. Pray with them. Follow up on them.

Let’s trust the Lord together to lead us to needy souls whom we can lead to the Lord Jesus Christ.
